RuPaul’s DragCon 2016 Recap!

Only a few words can help me describe exhibiting Black Mast at RuPaul’s DragCon 2016 and being in LA for all the festivities: surreal, amazing, incredible, validating, and FULL OF LOVE!

It was so great to get that instant feedback from people who love our shirt designs and my artwork! The sense of community was strong and everyone was so supportive (emotionally and monetarily 😉 ) There were several standout moments in a sea of fun ones, and these are just a few:

I didn’t even make it to the table to set up without Trannika Rex yelling at me thinking I was with Laila McQueen (I was wearing a Laila t-shirt) and then becoming a topic of conversation for friends of Laila for wearing the tee until Laila herself came up to our table to talk to us.

Trixie Mattel came by to tell us how much she loves the “Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent” shirt we gave her a couple months back. She may literally be the sweetest pink cotton candy human ever, and I hope I can buy her a drink or 5 next time she’s in SF.

The most intense moment was meeting RuPaul, and having him thank us for participating. He carries such a strongly positive energy that you can’t help but ride the wave of positivity after talking to him!

James St. James came by our table and basically fondled everything we had out, and getting to chat with him for a bit about the stories he’s shared of his life and our mutual connections was great!

We watched Willam hoverboard everywhere in the convention.

SEVERAL friends came to say hi, and I LOVE YOU for being so supportive!

I got to meet some online friends in person for the first time, including my new UK BFF Vanity Venom! Can’t wait to see you all again!

And the biggest moment of glee may have been seeing RuPaul roller skate through the entire convention several times over on Sunday, and watching fans chase after him. 😛

It was such a great time to work the con and then explore the nightlife on such a high-energy weekend. I’m so happy I got to share these amazing moments and laughter and giggles and a weird hotel experience (and DRANKS) with my ride or die and Black Mast partner Marie and my boo Michael (and also Thanks to Amanda Bang for rocking the new shirt as a bodysuit!)

Can’t wait until next year! Thank you for all the support!! Love you all!
